HM Treasury Opens Autumn Budget 2024 / Spending Review Submission Portal

HM Treasury has now opened its representations portal for the Autumn Budget and Spending Review 2024. Such representations are an invaluable means of influencing government policy and alerting the Treasury of policy ideas. With a newly elected Labour Chancellor setting out her first fiscal event, this is a golden opportunity and organisations in any sector should make the most of it.

Ahead of the deadline on 10 September 2024, Brevia has outlined guidance and top tips for submitting representations to the Treasury for the Autumn Budget 2024.

WHEN IS THE AUTUMN BUDGET AND SPENDING REVIEW 2024?

The Chancellor, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, will deliver the Autumn Budget on 30 October 2024. The Chancellor’s statement will be accompanied by an economic and fiscal forecast from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN AN AUTUMN BUDGET REPRESENTATION?

The formal process enables organisations to comment on existing policy or make suggestions for new policy. HM Treasury states that policy suggestions contained in Autumn Budget 2024 representations should explain the policy rationale, costs, benefits and deliverability of the proposals and be evidence-based.
